In a globalising world, international mobility in higher education is an important phenomenon for students and higher education institutions. It is therefore essential to understand the factors that determine international students' satisfaction with higher education institutions that serve as hosts. Through research of an exploratory, quantitative nature, this study presents results from a survey among 289 incoming international students in two universities in Germany and Portugal. Our findings show that the factor we define as educational experience was an important determinant of student satisfaction. Furthermore, the appraisal of academic reputation is dependent on the university. We conclude that satisfaction with academic factors is more important for international students than satisfaction with non-academic aspects.  相似文献

Point of departure of the contribution are current public debates about the expansion of private educational institutions and multi-located discussions about the feared accompanied increase of educational inequalities. Especially the theses, that increasing refoundations of privately owned educational institutions are coincide with enhanced social segregation, is in the center of attention. The contribution also amplifies the verified phenomena of increasing distinction of educational and founding/supporting landscapes at all levels of the educational system. It also requests apart from debates about the pros and cons of an “elite education” in Germany, how exclusive educational institutions with stratifying impact can be identified. With reference to the national and international research, criteria and dimensions of the study for the different levels of education from the elementary education to higher education are developed.  相似文献

Aptamers are promising cell targeting ligands for several applications such as for the diagnosis, therapy, and drug delivery. Especially, in the field of regenerative medicine, stem cell specific aptamers have an enormous potential. Using the combinatorial chemistry process SELEX (Systematic Evolution of Ligands by Exponential enrichment), aptamers are selected from a huge oligonucleotide library consisting of approximately 1015 different oligonucleotides. Here, we developed a microfluidic chip system that can be used for the selection of cell specific aptamers. The major drawbacks of common cell-SELEX methods are the inefficient elimination of the unspecifically bound oligonucleotides from the cell surface and the unspecific binding/uptake of oligonucleotides by dead cells. To overcome these obstacles, a microfluidic device, which enables the simultaneous performance of dielectrophoresis and electrophoresis in the same device, was designed. Using this system, viable cells can be selectively assembled by dielectrophoresis between the electrodes and then incubated with the oligonucleotides. To reduce the rate of unspecifically bound sequences, electrophoretic fields can be applied in order to draw loosely bound oligonucleotides away from the cells. Furthermore, by increasing the flow rate in the chip during the iterative rounds of SELEX, the selection pressure can be improved and aptamers with higher affinities and specificities can be obtained. This new microfluidic device has a tremendous capability to improve the cell-SELEX procedure and to select highly specific aptamers.  相似文献

In order to support education in distributed system fundamentals and to elucidate the function of distributed algorithms and protocols, we apply animations of formal models which concentrate on the mediation of aspects of the dynamic system behavior. For this purpose we adapted and extended approaches and tools supporting the animation of sequential algorithms. Besides sets of special animations, the results comprise a set of view types providing for the convenient presentation of dynamic properties. Furthermore, we report on experiences we gained from a series of corresponding educational experiments.  相似文献

Abstract

This study describes the development and the evaluation of quality assurance criteria for online dental education. These criteria were developed by the authors and evaluated by oral health professionals through an Internet survey. The survey indicated that oral health professionals ranked the creation of scientifically based, frequently updated courses that clearly define their educational goals and objectives as highly important.  相似文献
